Antique pessinus city is in the border of Ballihisar village which is in the South of Sivrihisar. Pessinus is a Phrygia city which was founded according to post Hittite religious believes in the name of the goddess Cybele. It is known that Pessinus was one of the important trade name of the goddess Cybele. It is known that

Pessinus was one of the important trade centers of Phrygia kingdom. Kings Road, which was stretching from west to east, was passing through and that was another reason fort he development of the town. The first excavations in Pessinus started in 1967. Temple, theatre and bazaars were founded as a result of the excavations. Today there are two museums in Ballihisar and some pieces founded in excavations are exhibited here. Antik Pessinus kenti Sivrihisar’ın güneyinde yer alan Ballıhisar köyü sınırlarının içerisindedir. Pessinus, Hitit sonrası dini inançlarla tanrıça Kybele adına kurulmuş bir Frig şehridir. Pessinus’un Frigya krallığının önemli ticaret merkezlerinden olduğu bilinmektedir. Batıdan doğuya uzanan kral yolunun bir kolunun Pessinus’tan geçmesi gelişmesinin diğer bir nedenidir.

Pessinus’ta ilk kazılar 1967 yılında başlamıştır. Kazılar sonucu mabet, tiyatro ve çarşılar ortaya çıkmıştır. Ballıhisar köyünde iki müze bulunmakta ve kazılarda ortaya çıkan eserlerin bir kısmı bu müzelerde sergilenmektedir. Eserlerin önemli bir bölümü ise Eskişehir Arkeoloji müzesinde bulunmaktadır.
